iPatientCare EHR Delivers High Interoperability to New York Providers By Successfully Integrating with Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY) HIE
iPatientCare, Inc., a pioneer in mHealth and cloud-based ambulatory EHR and integrated Practice Management solutions announced the successful integration with Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY) which provides secure online access to community-wide patient medical data. This achievement will allow iPatientCare users to access the community health record of their patients on HIXNY’s HIE.
HIXNY (“hix-knee”) is a collaboration of health plans, hospitals, physician practices and other entities in a 17 county geography comprising the Capital Region and Northern New York. HIXNY has built an interoperable network to electronically share patient medical information more efficiently for the benefit of healthcare consumers. Created through a unique collaboration of health care providers and insurers, HIXNY provides a secure technology infrastructure and services to enable physicians, hospitals, health plans, and other healthcare providers to interact, share information resources, and conduct the business of healthcare in a collaborative manner.
“iPatientCare is not only an EHR application. Although that is where we began in early 2000, iPatientCare has evolved as a scalable and highly available application platform that integrates certified ambulatory EHR, certified inpatient EHR, professional and institutional billing system, patient portal, health information exchange, and mHealth suite. It was our vision of anywhere anytime availability of patient records that led us to invest heavily in interoperability by developing our own interface engine and integration brokers from the scratch. As a result of this commitment, our “Providers” find patient”s health data in iPatientCare EHR directly, helping them with provide better care to their patients and evidence-based decision support,” said Arnaz Bharucha, Senior Technology Officer, iPatientCare, Inc.
Shahab Shaikh, Enterprise Integration Specialist, iPatientCare commented, “At iPatientCare, we continuously work with other HIE, EHR and PM System Vendors, hospital/health systems, physicians’ offices, labs, radiology facilities, and state immunization registries to make the transition of care and personal health record a reality. We stand committed to HL7, CCR, CCD, C-CDA, NCPDP, and IHE to build and implement true and absolute interoperability as our commitment to the US healthcare IT.”
He added further, “In 2012 HIXNY connected more than 120 practice sites. These connections gave providers access to patients’ community health records and enabled them to receive lab results and radiology reports from HIXNY into their EHRs. As a national EHR vendor, iPatientCare is glad to announce this significant integration achievement that would benefit iPatientCare customers and thousands of other providers connected to HIXNY in providing better patient care.”
